Sexual Assault Advocacy Training

Each year SVC conducts three volunteer trainings to train new sexual assault advocates.  The training follows the MN statute for sexual assault advocates, and is conducted over a 6-7 week period.  The total amount of training received is 49.5 hours.  This training prepares volunteers to provide direct services to victims/survivors of sexual violence, including answering SVC’s crisis line, and providing medical advocacies. Supplemental trainings are offered for those volunteers interested in providing 1:1 peer counseling and/or facilitating support groups.
SVC’s next Sexual Assault Advocacy Training will begin on Thursday April 12th, 2012. If you are interested in volunteering at SVC, please contact Megan Close, Direct Services Coordinator, at mclose@sexualviolencecenter.org or 612-871-5100 ext. 14. SVC is a volunteer-driven agency and could not provide these vital services to victims/survivors of sexual violence without them.
