What does your donation do?
It allows the Sexual Violence Center (SVC) to continue to provide more than 2000 youth and adults with 24-hour crisis phone service, individual counseling, support groups, hospital emergency room advocacy and legal clinics at no cost. There is no need for insurance, a qualifying income level or any other restrictions for receiving services from SVC. Since 1985 our agency has been serving victims/survivors of sexual violence who are 12 years of age or older, and their families, in Hennepin, Carver, Scott and other metro counties. We have offices in Minneapolis and Chaska.
Our work extends beyond working directly with victims/survivors of sexual violence.
SVC is launching the Green Dot Strategy in Minnesota! This approach focuses on engaging bystanders to actively prevent a sexual assault either through a direct action, distraction or involving a third party such as the police or other bystanders in the area. There are typically between 20-40 bystanders who at some point in a situation or a relationship that could have intervened to prevent a sexual assault.(Please seewww.livethegreendot.com for more information on this strategy.)
