SVC currently has openings on its Board of Directors and is seeking a diverse, enthusiastic group of candidates. We are particularly interested in new members with marketing, finance, technology, non-profit management, or fundraising experience, as well as experience with social justice issues and sexual violence. Because we are a small and active Board, the most important qualities of any Board member are a commitment to SVC's mission, and a willingness to energetically engage and support the organization.
For more information or an application packet, please contact Sharon Jones, Board Recruitment and Strategy Committee Chair at svcboard@gmail.com or our Executive Director, Pamela Zeller, at either (612) 871-5100 ext. 16 or pzeller@sexualviolencecenter.org.
In 1985, SVC opened its first office in Hennepin County. A few years later, SVC opened a second office and expanded its services to Scott and Carver Counties. During the last 20+ years, SVC staff and volunteers have provided free services to thousands of people. Services include: maintaining a crisis call line 24/7, advocating for victims of sexual violence, counseling victims and their families, educating people in the community, and partnering with other organizations to address the issue of sexual violence in our communities.
SVC is also a catalyst for social change by challenging the systems under which sexual assault exists and advances. SVC provides services for all people, in an environment free of discrimination, and encourages us and our communities to examine our prejudices, privileges, and behaviors that are race, gender, sexual orientation, and class-based. All Board members, staff, and volunteers commit to creating a discrimination-free environment and supporting SVC’s community change efforts. SVC also supports the rights and choices provided to victims of sexual violence.
