If you want to report a sexual assault to the police or just find out what the process is for reporting this crime, you can call our 24-hour crisis line at 612-871-5111. We are able to go with you to the police station to file a report, go to the hospital with you and be present during the interview with law enforcement, and go with you to your meetings with the prosecutor or court dates. We will always support what you want to see happen with your legal case. SVC advocates can help you navigate the legal system. We can serve as a go-between with you and the police investigator or prosecutor’s office if you’d like.
If you are concerned about your safety at home, we can help you apply for a confidential address so that you can keep in touch with the investigator and others working on your case without having your address be part of the public record. We do this through the Safe at Home program. An SVC advocate can also help you file for a court protection order such as an Order for Protection or a Harassment Restraining Order.
To receive support from an SVC advocate or a Safe at Home applicant assistant, call the 24 hour crisis-line at 612-871-5111.
All legal advocates have completed a 49-plus hour training per the state of MN requirements, a specific training on legal advocacy, and continue their training through quarterly workshops.
