SVC offers seven support groups on-site for survivors of sexual violence and concerned persons. Here is our list of on-site support groups that are offered throughout the year: Adult Female, Adult Male, Youth, LGBTQ, Journey Through the Arts, Writing, and Concerned Persons.
For our on-site groups we keep a waiting list of people who are interested in attending a group. Once this waiting list acquires approximately five names we begin taking the steps to get a group started. Our groups run 8-10 weeks in length and are 1 1/2 -2 hours per session. They are closed groups, which means the same people participate in it from beginning to end.
SVC also offers offsite support groups. Currently we facilitate groups at: St. Joe’s Home for Children, PEASE Academy, Plymouth Correctional Facility, Shakopee Prison, Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center, Juvenile Alternative Facility, and First Nations Recovery Center. If you are interested in having SVC facilitate a group at your organization or school please give us a call!
For more information about our support groups, or to sign up for a group, call our crisis line at 612-871-5111.
All support group facilitators have completed a 49-plus hour training per the state of Minnesota requirements, a specific training on support group facilitation and continue their training through quarterly workshops.
